Willow
Gold Miners Lodge is the perfect mid-way resting point, centrally located south of Willow, where Nancy Lake is located.  Only 7 miles north, Nancy Lake State Recreation Area is different from most Alaskan park areas.  It is one of the few flat, lake-studded landscapes in Alaska preserved for recreation purposes. The recreation area’s clear waters are ringed with unspoiled forests, and provide tranquil settings for canoing, fishing, hiking and camping.  In the winter, the rolling topography is ideal for cross-country skiing, dog mushing and snow machining.  The recreation area’s combination of lakes, wetlands and forests create an ideal habitat for many mammals and birds.  Perhaps most noticeable to the summer visitor are water dwellers, especially beaver and waterfowl.  Get more info on the
Nancy Lake website.

Fishing
Rivers, creeks, and lakes are bursting with salmon and trout.  On Parks Highway, there are numerous angling opportunities.  From the Little Susitna River to Montana Creek, you'll find creeks and streams crossing every couple of miles, and all are home to fabulous fishing.  Lake trout, rainbows and graveling can be taken in many Valley lakes.  Bring a copy of the fishing regulations when you go!  They are free, and the best rule of thumb is to pick one up when you buy your fishing license.

Anchorage
Anchorage is located in a region referred to as South central Alaska.  This region is easily accessible to air, land and sea and is the first stop for many visitors to the state.  Almost half of Alaska’s residents live in this area surrounded by miles of coast, mountain ranges, hundreds of lakes and rivers, glaciers, ski resorts, excellent fishing and recreational opportunities and nearly 20 state parks.  There are more than 200 miles of paved and unpaved trails in the Municipality of Anchorage for hiking, walking, biking and other recreational uses in the summer.   In the winter more than 130 miles of walkways are plowed and 100 miles of ski trails are groomed for public use.  There are even 36 miles of trails dedicated to the state’s official sport:  dog mushing.

Houston
Hosting moose, bald eagles, bears and a variety of all in between, in both summer and winter seasons in Houston, Alaska;  the home of Gold Miners Lodge, creates the perfect opportunities to take the trophy pictures of your vacation, enabling bragging rights for life.  Hunting, fishing, four wheeling, and camping are among the most popular activities, with plenty of opportunities to do it all in the Valley.

Flight Seeing
Some people say that the "real" Alaska is the part you can't get to by road.  Whether that's true or not, it can't be denied that a flight seeing trip is an experience that cannot be duplicated anywhere else.  Most flight seeing trips take you out to some of Alaska's best fishing country. Just 10 minutes north of Gold Miners Lodge, there are several aviation companies that can take you up to view some of the most awesome scenery you'll ever see or take you to remote locations to fish for a few hours, a day, or a week. If you're looking to experience Alaska close-up and first-hand, flight seeing is a excellent way to do it.
